National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association Announces First Online Events of 2012
Focusing on Research and New Approaches to Relieving Fibromyalgia Pain
LOGAN, Utah--(9 January 2012)--The National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association will be hosting its first podcast and webinar of 2012 with both online events focusing on research aimed at helping to relieve fibromyalgia and chronic pain.
Podcast: Exercise and Brain Function
“Exercise and Brain Function” will be the topic of the live podcast on Friday, January 13, 2012 starting at 9:00 am PST/12:00 pm EST.
Host Jan Chambers, president and founder of the NFMCPA, will be talking with special guest, C. Jessie Jones, PhD, Professor and Chair of Health Science and Founder and Director of California State University, Fullerton's Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Research and Education Center.
Dr. Jones, who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998, will discuss how exercise improves cognitive function; what type of exercise is best for fibromyalgia and chronic pain and improving brain function, especially for people with fibromyalgia
Dr. Jones will also share tips and advice on how to get motivated for physical activity in 2012, as outlined in her article in the January/February 2012 issue ofFibromyalgia & Chronic Pain LIFE magazine, “Strategies to Stay Motivated for Exercising in the New Year.”

On Tuesday, January 17, 2012, starting at 6:30 pm EST, the NFMCPA’s popular ASK THE EXPERT webinar series kicks off 2012 with Dr. Cory Kingston, founder of FibroInnovations and a noted chiropractor and research physician with the topic, “Neck Pain in Fibromyalgia.”
Dr. Kingston is the principal investigator of current cervical fibromyalgia research in his Logan, Utah, fibromyalgia clinic. The 45-minute webinar includes Q&A.
